With a Herr-Voss Stamco® tension leveling system, tension is created by
self-regulating, driven bridle rolls. The metal is then flexed over leveling
rolls to achieve a controlled elongation of the entire strip beyond its
yield point. The result is the permanent elimination of internal metal
stresses. Some of the conditions corrected by Herr-Voss Stamco® tension
leveling include quarter buckle, edgewave, center fullness and center
buckle. Tension leveling can also significantly improve or eliminate camber.
We have a wide variety of configurations, backed by hard data developed
on the tension level test stands in our laboratory. Computer simulations
provide quick and accurate recommendations for new line parameters.
Risk of errors in tensions, extensions, horsepower, and speeds have become
minimal. Our applications database makes these selections routine.
Cleaning, reoiling, scratches, stop marks, chatter and other issues make
this apparently simple technology a difficult field for the unwary.
Automation, including comprehensive electronics, fast "hands-off" feed
up, and Quick Change™, low drag roll modules have reduced non-production
time to minimum levels on Herr-Voss Stamco tension level systems.
